Students will spend 150 hours interning with a variety of organisations and NGOs concerned with public policy and international affairs. This provides the student with an opportunity to experience a hands-on professional environment in which to observe and apply their knowledge and skills from their degree. This is a research internship course and internships must be research project-based, but can reflect some day-to-day activities of the host organisation. Students may have the option of completing a remote internship with an organisation based in South Australia or elsewhere but students themselves must be based in Adelaide. Students are expected to source their own internship and seek approval of the project from the internships office and course coordinator. Alternatively, students can apply for relevant internship opportunities that are advertised through the university on Careerhub. Students must have a host supervisor as a contact point of the organisation, and adviser on the project. In addition to the project itself, there will also be some face-to-face seminars on cognate areas of politics and international affairs, report-writing and planning careers in the field. |
