This course is designed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills necessary to create a positive and productive classroom environment that promotes learning. There is a focus on understanding the factors that influence student behaviour, implementing proactive strategies to prevent behaviour issues, effectively managing challenging behaviours when they arise, and working collaboratively with key stakeholders (including the student if appropriate). Educators will explore behavioural theories and research, gaining insights into contributors to student behaviour, including social, emotional, cognitive, and environmental factors. They will learn to recognise the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive classroom culture that promotes productive behaviour and fosters a sense of belonging among students. Educators will also be introduced to evidence-based strategies for promoting productive student behaviour, including establishing clear expectations, providing positive reinforcement, and teaching self-regulation and problem-solving skills. They will learn how to differentiate instruction and support to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with identified behavioural challenges. Educators will have the opportunity to critically reflect on their own practices related to supporting productive student behaviour and continue to develop their PoPP inquiry. They will reflect upon the status of their inquiries and develop further action plans for implementing inclusive strategies in their classrooms. |
